This multi-block woodcut print depicts a giant swallowtail butterfly. This is one of the most impressive and largest butterflies in North America, with a wingspan that ranges from 5-7 inches depending upon gender and environmental factors. This species (Papilio cresoophontes) can be found in the eastern part of the continent from southern Canada to Mexico, as well as Jamaica and Cuba.
