'Painted Buntings' is inspired by a birding trip to south Texas with two friends, one of whom had never seen these iconic colorful birds in the wild. Everyone fortunate enough to see these rainbow-colored seed eaters remembers that first moment fondly. Painted buntings are also found in Florida, though they are not as common here as in Texas. We have seen them in our neighborhood a few times in recent years. This piece is printed from a hand-carves wood block using the reduction method.
